The EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE) has opened a call for applications to appoint two new Steering Committee members.
The EUA-CDE Steering Committee guides the preparation and implementation of the Council’s work programme. By working closely with the EUA-CDE Secretariat, members advise on future activities and identify emerging trends and priorities in doctoral education. The Steering Committee meets in person four times per year.
The EUA Board will establish a selection committee which will prepare a shortlist of candidates for its consideration. The selection committee will seek candidates who are diverse in terms of institutional and disciplinary background, geography and gender. Please note that no more than one member will be appointed from the same country.
The present EUA-CDE Steering Committee comprises the following members:

The members whose term is ending are: Irma Grdzelidze and Andrei Terian-Dan.
The new members will begin their mandate in March 2027. EUA-CDE Steering Committee members are appointed for a period of three years, which can be renewed once.
Selection criteria
Interested candidates should fulfil the following criteria:
1. Hold a position of institution-wide responsibility for the doctorate in an EUA-CDE member university at the level of vice-rector, doctoral school director or similar.
2. Demonstrate a considerable level of expertise and concrete experience concerning the institutional management of doctoral education.
3. Possess knowledge about national and international debates and policies in doctoral education.
4. Have a clear and well-informed vision for doctoral education in Europe. This vision should be described in a short statement to be sent with the application.

Candidates should send a short CV (1-2 pages), a cover letter demonstrating the criteria above and the motivation and a short statement on their vision for doctoral education in Europe to Ana-Maria Peneoasu (ana.maria.peneoasu@eua.eu) by 30 November 2026.
