Call for application for a new member of the EUA-CDE Steering Committee

The EUA Council for Doctoral Education (EUA-CDE) is looking to fill one vacant Steering Committee position.

The EUA-CDE Steering Committee meets three to four times a year; it prepares and implements the EUA-CDE work programme together with the secretariat and advises on topics of interest and future activities.

The EUA Board will establish a Nominations Committee. It will be the responsibility of the Nominations Committee to prepare a shortlist of candidates for consideration by the EUA Board. Steering Committee members will be appointed for a period of three years, once renewable. The Nominations Committee will seek to retain a Steering Committee that is diverse in terms of geography and gender.

The present Steering Committee has the following members:

Timo Korkeamäki, Hanken School of Economics, Finland

Murat Özgören, Dokuz Eylül University, Turkey

Mossadek Talby, Aix-Marseille University, France

Martine Rahier, University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland (ex-officio EUA Board member)

The member to be replaced is: Timo Korkeamäki.

New members will begin their mandate in October 2019.

Candidates interested in becoming a member of the Steering Committee should fulfil the criteria set out below.

1. Have a position of institution-wide responsability in a EUA-CDE member university at the level of Vice-Rector or similar.

2. Demonstrate a considerable level of expertise and concrete experience concerning institutional management of doctoral education.

3. Be knowledgeable about national and international debates and policies in the area.

4. Have a clear and well-informed vision for doctoral education in Europe. This vision should be described in a short statement to be sent with the application.

Candidates should send a short CV (1-2 pages), cover letter demonstrating the criteria above as well as the motivation to apply, and the short statement on their vision for doctoral education in Europe to Ana-Maria Peneoasu (ana.maria.peneoasu@eua.eu) at the latest by 15 July 2019.
